Well, 2008 has come and gone. There wasn’t much activity in 2008. Mostly due to the price of fuel for our beloved Corvette’s, and the down spiraling economy. We can only hope for better times ahead in 2009.
This will be the first of several newsletter’s throughout the year, along with continuous updates on club activities past, present and future.
We started 2008 with a few runs, and our charity corvette show, hosted by Turner Chevrolet of Park Hills. The car show was a great success due to the hard work of the car show committee, and all the people who showed up to work and support the show. The 2008 event had a few changes from years past, making things run more efficiently.
The next event was the Club BBQ, hosted by Club president Mike Lundy and his wife Vickie. The BBQ was at their home in Perryville. There was a great turn out. Which we need more of for other Club events. Meat was provided by the club and prepared by Mike and several testers. Everyone brought a covered dish or dessert. All in attendance had a great time, even with the unexpected thunderstorm. As always there was plenty to eat. THANKS again Mike and Vickie.
Although the club did not participate in many over night road trips, several members attended car show’s and cruise-ins closer to home.
Our first extended road trip was the Funfest in Effingham, IL. As always the Funfest was good and we had a great showing of club cars for this event. There was a group caravanning up on Friday morning. We were joined later in the day and Saturday by several other club members. The club parking set up organized by Mike Lundy was once again a big hit. It’s really nice having a central meeting point, to hang out, and take a break from the many activates of the day. (Thanks again Mike).
After our arrival on Friday everyone met that evening to indulge in yet another club. Well if you haven’t already guessed we converged on a local eatery for a great meal and fellowship.
The big buzz for Funfest 2009 is that it might be moved to another location. There will be a lot more on this subject as the year progresses
We are all looking forward to all the events of 2009. Drive Safely and don’t forget to buckle up.
Till next time, Charlie Mitchell
